Amid Dramatic Grassroots Actions, Conference Takes Shape

As the #Occupy Movement spreads across our continent, and people realize that the Arab Spring, in fact, may signal a global shift, our gathering is taking rapid shape to both understand and give further impetus to the movement. So here's what going on:

(1) our opening, town hall meeting at MIT (10/21) has been re-labeled by Open Media Boston editor (and conference organizer), Jason Pramas, "A Robot Sent to Destroy Me" (see his publication for further details here).

(2) our lunchtime plenary on Saturday (10/22) is now a 2 hour mega-panel with #OccupyBoston activists Marisa Egerstrom, Robin Jacks, Brian Kwoba, and Nadeem Mazen, organizers of the Wisconsin Capitol Building occupations, journalist Talia Whyte, community organizer Myrna Morales, a journalist from The Phoenix, Prof. Heidi Gautschi of Lesley University, and myself, Suren Moodliar.

(3) We have more twelve workshops ranging from introductory social media tools, to engaging youth, to mobile platforms for use by immigrants, to dialogues about local versions of wikileaks, to collaborative organizing tools, to computer recycling. (Details being finalized and added to the website over this weekend)
